A Note from the Pastor

God loves us!

We live in a beautiful and awesome world created by our God! We are a blessed people! So how do we live our best in this world?

“Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious – the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse.” It continues with encouraging us to put into practice these things, “and God, who makes everything work together will work us into God’s most excellent harmonies.” - Philippians 4: 8-9

There are so many things to see and think on that are available to everyone. The sky has always fascinated me. Looking at the sky itself can be a kind of meditating. As well as star gazing, looking at the moon, watching the birds soar through the air, noticing the different shapes of the clouds, enjoying the sunset and sunrise; all these things help my thinking and are graceful, beautiful, and compelling. Fireworks bursting forth with a multitude of colors and shapes, then some gently curving down to earth is a good thing to watch. It’s fun to see hot-air balloons and gliders sail through the sky. These sights fill one’s soul with joy and peace.

But it’s not always possible to find joy and peace, especially when events in one’s life are not going well at all. It’s like looking at a dark, stormy sky which can create tornadoes and hurricanes. This prompts concern and worry. We need some help, and God is that help:

“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.” -Philippians 4: 6-7

Yes, God is good! Yes, God does love us!

Blessing of Peace & Joy,
Rev. Charlsie
